It snowed today, and not just a little. I'd guess that there is 3-4 inches of fine, blowing snow. Yuck.
Luckily we made a quick trip down to Arkansas and had a couple nice sunny days before the snow. The kids went out and played, took the dog for walks and generally had a nice time in the warm weather.
As we drove north we made an couple extra stops. One was at Big Brutus. Yep Big Brutus, I said. I know, I know, it is just too cool. Of all the roadside attractions a long the way to your destination, Big Brutus is number one, or should be.
Here are a couple of pictures of Big Brutus. It was used to scoop coal into train cars for transport to other places. You can see from the picture with Renee inside the shovle just how big it is. She isn't quite 5 foot tall and she looks so small. They say one scoop would fill at least train cars worth of coal.
Swing by & check out their website and/or stop by and see this amazing site in West Mineral, Ks. There really is some cool things to see here in Kansas, we aren't just flat land and grain silos. (That is western Kansas anyway).
Have a good one,
Awesome picture, Kathy!!! I've never seen that monster...hehe, we MUST make the trip sometime!
ReplyDeleteHope that you are doing well and I'll see you again soon!
BTW.... so much for the first day of Spring, huh???
OXOXOX
